TO OUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND FRIENDS: Durty Nellie's regrets to inform you that we will be unable to host Saint Patrick's Day this year -as we have done so many years in the past- resulting from the fire that occurred on January 25, 2019. Due to this unfortunate incident we have been forced to cancel our live entertainment, which has been so popular to so many. We feel the party should still go on so we will still be the presenting sponsor for the Palatine St. Patrick's Day Parade and celebration.
We thank you for your continued support and will have a re-open date for you soon. Without a doubt we will come back stronger and better than ever!
We look forward to seeing you back at Durty Nellie’s soon!

Durty Nellie’s Update After January 25, 2019 Fire
We first want to thank all of the well-wishers – and everyone who has reached out to us since the fire that occurred on Friday, January 25, 2019. Anyone who has gone through a situation like this (individual people or businesses) knows that recovering from a fire and the resulting damages can present a number of challenges. We are first so fortunate that no one was injured, and we want everyone to know we are taking every step possible to reopen as quickly as possible! Please know that Durty Nellie’s will be back soon, and that this unfortunate accident will not only make us stronger, but better than ever in the long term!
Please see the accompanying pictures to get an inside look at the work ahead of us before reopening. We wanted to share what information we have available right now with you, to let you know the status of our progress toward our ultimate reopening:
Due to the firefighting efforts (which we are so grateful for), there was water damage that required the wood floor in the bar/pub to be pulled up and it will need to be replaced.
We are working with a property restoration company who has been on site for the last several days, ensuring that any additional moisture that may be present, is addressed/mitigated.
The top of the bar will be replaced (it was not damaged as a result of the fire, but we are going to make this improvement because it’s an opportune time to do so).
The 18 televisions in Durty Nellie’s were all damaged due to the fire and must all be replaced.
All of the walls and any surfaces inside the entire establishment must be vacuumed, cleaned and/or rebuilt by the property restoration company due to the fire, to ensure it is safe for our loyal customers, and that it meets Village requirements.
The opening/hole on the outside of the kitchen wall that resulted from the fire will need to be repaired.
Short Term Plans: We are working hard so that Durty Nellie’s can reopen within the next month!
Durty Nellie’s is working closely with the Village of Palatine to meet any and all requirements for reopening, while addressing the above issues, in addition to meeting code requirements/permits which are normal and expected in this type of situation.
The yearly St. Patrick’s Day celebration, which Durty Nellie’s is the presenting sponsor of, is of course still on! Durty Nellie’s will be at the hub of all of the activity as always! We are working on some exciting plans for this huge celebration in downtown Palatine, so please stay tuned!!
Thank you again for your support – and please look for additional updates and an official announcement on our reopening date! In the meantime, for groups that have pre-scheduled events and parties, Durty Nellie’s is reaching out. If you have questions, please email [email protected].
